This award is said to recognise the contribution of a band that the Wakefield Express newspaper dubbed "Wakefield's greatest ambassadors" , having galvanised the now-thriving music scene in the area, and their overall contribution to the cultural regeneration of the city, which this week also saw the opening of the new Hepworth Gallery.
The award ceremony will take place on June 8th, in the form of a meet and greet with fans at a location yet to be determined, then a photo shoot with the plaque at the Hepworth Gallery.]]>

Hey guys,
So, as some of you may know by now The Cribs are gonna be a 3-piece again. That is a slightly less dramatic way of saying that Johnny Marr is no longer in the band. We don't want it to be seen as a split, that just has so many negative connotations and really doesn't represent the way everyone is feeling right now.
The truth is that, as Johnny said, we did more than we ever set out to do together really - we were initially just playing together as friends, and decided it might be fun to do a trademark Cribs 'surprise one-off seven inch' or something of that ilk, but as we went along we just kept writing. First it was a single, then an EP, we just happened to really enjoy playing together and ended up writing a full album. We were/are all really proud of the work we did together and we did mean it in our assertions that Johnny was very much a full-time member of the band. There were definite intentions of continuing on together and making another record - we even went into the studio with Edwyn Collins again last spring and started recording some stuff, but it just wasn't really working. We were all pretty burnt at that point and that is why we decided that after 8 years (I know, crazy!) and 4 records we should take some time off.
During that time we all intended on working on other projects (Ryan started producing and writing with Edwyn, Gary contributing to All Smiles etc) and at some point late last year, we just casually got together out in Portland as a 3-piece and it was so much fun. Johnny had started working on a solo record in the time off, and it just seemed like the right time to go our separate ways. It's not like "JOHNNY LEAVES!", or "BAND SPLIT!", or any of that drama - just a good time to do something else really.
No one is down about this in our camp. It's actually the start of a really exciting phase for everyone. Johnny has gone back to The Healers and is writing a new record, and we are really honestly loving being back together as just 3 brothers literally playing in the basement/garage again. Right now we are in Portland and demoing in Gary's basement and it feels so liberating. We have a bunch of new songs and are embracing the lo-fi again. It never was about fancy studios and LA and all that. We are back in our usual environment and feeling good about it. We've got everything we need.
We are also really looking forward to the shows we have coming up. We miss you guys.

The Cribs who finally return to the US and will supplement their Sunday August 8, main stage Lollapalooza performance with a free show at the legendary Cubby Bear, Saturday night August 7, for the American fans who have been waiting to see the band. The 21+ show will occur after the festival is over for the night so that fans can make it back uptown for this special, intimate club show.

Cribs have recorded a special version of Kaiser Chiefs ‘Modern Way’
with all the profits from the track going to a local Yorkshire charity.
The band have teamed up with local radio station 96.3 Radio Aire to
raise awareness and money for neglected children in Leeds and West
Yorkshire with all of the profits from the track going to the Cash
for Kids Action on Neglect Appeal.
The Appeal is raising money to make a difference to the lives of neglected children in Leeds and West Yorkshire.

The Appeal has an array of artists involved all of whom are releasing

The 'Roses Edition' will consist of an exclusive black box which houses a special edition of the CD album a "Making of..." documentary DVD plus an exclusive live (audio only) bootleg from the band's show at Manchester Ritz earlier this year.

Almost a year to the day that The Cribs took over the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds to celebrate Cribsmas comes the visual documentary of the three day celebration.
The band had decided to end what had been a spectacular year with some shows at the venue where they had first played as The Cribs. The idea was to play each of their three albums on separate nights in their entirety along with rarely heard songs to an intimate crowd of fans, family and friends, Franz Ferdinand, Kate Nash and Kaiser Chiefs would make surprise cameo appearances alongside pint pulling competitions that added to the sense of occasion gave each evening the air of something really special.
‘Live At The Brudenell Social Club’ is released as limited edition triple DVD – which includes live renditions of every Cribs song ever recorded (some of which have not ever been released), it also includes behind the scenes footage and interviews with Johnny Marr and Alex Kapranos amongst many from the world of The Cribs.

The first UK festival is Wireless on Saturday 16th June at Leeds Harewood House, where The Cribs play the Main Stage directly before Kaiser Chiefs and Editors. The following day it's Wireless London, Sunday 17th June in Hyde Park, it's the same bill, on stage around 6pm.
Next is Glastonbury, The Cribs play The Other Stage (stage 2) on Friday 22nd June, details of the line-up have just been announced here. It's an early one, The Cribs are on stage at 1.40pm.
The Cribs are doing Oxegen and T in The Park weekend next, Oxegen is Sat 7th July and T In The Park Sun 8th July - The Cribs will play on the Main Stage at each Festival. Get up early, stage time will be around 1230pm. The following weekend it's Fflam Festival, Wales where you can see The Cribs on Friday 13th July.
In the USA, The Cribs follow their appearance at Coachella with a set on the Main Stage at this year's Lollapalooza on Sunday 5th August. Following that on 16th August they'll be playing Pukkelpop Festival, Belgium.
Finally in the UK, The Cribs are playing V Festival, on 18th Aug in Stafford and 19th in Chelmsford (despite the fact it's not yet listed on here The Cribs will be on the Channel 4 Stage).]]>
