I have to agree with those on here who like me thought “this is never going to work!!” There was no bouncers / security to note of, no real stage, no barrier and some of the speakers seemed to be balancing on tables, and it was a disaster, but what do you expect when people have waited for hours to hear The Cribs, they were always going to go mental.
However, fair play to The Cribs for at least having a go, and fair play to the crowd for, ‘sitting on there arses” as Ryan put it. I have to say that at times it felt like the school assembly hall as everyone sat there on the floor, legs crossed singing along. As ridiculous as it was, I have to agree with someone else who said it was a great way of actually watching the band do what they do, even if at times they could hardly keep the smile of there face as they looked down on the crowd.
So in amongst some hairy moments there were a few moments for humour. Now I’m not condoning ‘theft’ and it did spoil it as Ryan and Gary had to share the only decent microphone that they had, but, during all the pushing and shoving some arse nicked Ryan’s mic. The funny part (now remember we’re sitting like school children at assembly here) was when Ryan the headmaster said “come on you lot, who’s nicked my mic, I know it was someone in this room, cause it was there a minute ago and now it’s gone, so come on, give it back” at which point everyone sat there with a “it wasn’t us” look on their faces.
